Inter
Aktion

The ESC - European Solidarity Corps - is a new program of the European Union. It encourages the involvement of young people in projects and activities that benefit the community.
The European Solidarity Corps enables non-profit organizations and companies that are active in the social sector to attract young, committed people to their team.
As a hosting organization for volunteer work and internships in the European Solidarity Corps, the InterAktion association has received the seal of quality and is allowed to apply for volunteer projects in the European Solidarity Corps.
Volunteering
European Solidarity Corps volunteering activities are open to 18-30 year old people, who would like to advocate for and support organisations active in the filed of environment, health, inclusion, digital technologies, culture, sport, etc. Volunteering projects are an excellent opportunity to help where needed, learn new skills, spend time abroad, maybe learn a language – and definitely come back with unforgettable memories. Volunteering for InterAktion
By applying the methods of non-formal and informal learning, you will have the opportunity to work directly with our target group (young refugees) and help them feel self-empowered and be able to better raise their voice in public discourses by enhancing their knowledge on political participation, cooperation, democracy, conflict resolution, European Union or identity. The work will take place in small groups or 1:1. With our support you will be able to develop workshops based on your own experiences and ideas. With creative and active leisure activities, your will primarily support those young people who are involved only in a few (or none) activities apart of ours.

Meet the volunteer: Merve Duman

Born in Almería, Spain, to a Spanish mother and a German father. He has lived in Almería for his whole life, and there he has collaborated as a volunteer with the Red Cross in projects concerning the migrant population of the area. He graduated from “abitur” in June 2024, being the only person in his province to obtain a perfect score in the Spanish university entrance exam. He is now taking a gap year, and in September he wants to begin his studies in physics in the university of Granada. He is deeply interested in the sciences and STEM, he enjoys playing the piano and singing and he loves traveling and learning about new cultures and languages. He can also speak Spanish and English fluently, and is conversational in German and French. Learning German and getting to work with migrants were the main motives that led him to come to Austria as a ESC volunteer.
